Louisiana 811 Online Training Required by Law Annually
Effective August 1, 2025
The Louisiana Underground Utilities & Facilities Damage Prevention Law (R.S. 1749.11 to 1749.27) has been amended to require at least one excavator on any dig site to have successfully completed the online training provided by Louisiana 811. An electronic certificate is issued after completion of the course, and the training is free of charge. Training is required on an annual basis. Marine excavators may take the alternative training program to be compliant with this requirement.
Note: Any excavator or demolisher certified by an operator qualification program subject to Title 49, CFR, Part 192 or Part 195 shall be exempt from this requirement.
